United Arab Emirates 路 copper trading hub
The UAE, and Dubai in particular, is a trading hub for copper scrap, cathode and rod, with many trading companies in free zones. A lot of African and Asian material is bought and resold there. On Copper Supply you can post a requirement or an offer for free and see what has been checked about every member before you talk.

Post it freeThe UAE has no copper mines, but it is an important place to trade copper. Dubai's free zones host many trading companies, Jebel Ali is one of the busiest ports in the region, and the country collects and processes scrap from the Gulf and beyond. There is also local demand from rod and cable makers.
Serious buyers want photographs and video of the actual lot, independent inspection, and payment by LC or against documents.
Imports go through the customs of the emirate where the goods land. Many trading companies are free zone entities, registered with the free zone authority rather than the emirate. The UAE has controlled scrap exports, and in 2026 a ministerial decision applied a temporary export ban on several scrap types, including copper scrap. Check the current position with the Ministry of Economy and customs before you agree a deal.
The UAE is a common route for metal of unclear origin. Ask for the country of origin and screen the counterparty and the cargo. Russian-origin metal faces UK and US import bans, and the LME does not accept Russian metal produced after 13 April 2024.
Many copper offers pass through Dubai brokers before they reach a real buyer or seller. Copper Supply shows you who is behind each listing and what has been checked.

Some is, but a lot of 'DRC cathode' offered by Dubai brokers is a resale of copied papers with no goods behind them. Ask who holds title, where the goods are, and send your own inspector. Have the documents reviewed before you pay.
Check its licence with the emirate's economic department or the free zone authority, confirm its bank with your own bank, and ask for trade references. On Copper Supply, badges show which ID and company checks it has passed.
