Eyes on the ground in Katanga, before you send money
Most copper scams in the DRC sell cargo that isn't where the seller says it is, or isn't theirs. If you can't get to Lubumbashi or Kolwezi yourself, our field partner goes for you and sends back what they actually saw.
DRC site visit
$450 路 Is the cargo where the seller says it is?
A visit to one warehouse, yard, plant or mine site in Haut-Katanga or Lualaba
Dated, located photos and video of the material, the bags or cathode bundles, markings and trucks
Who actually controls the site and the material, and whether it matches what you were told
Any warning signs: refused access, someone else's stock, numbers that don't add up
A written report, usually within 3 to 5 working days of the seller agreeing a time
Covers Haut-Katanga and Lualaba (Lubumbashi, Likasi, Kambove, Kolwezi, Kipushi, Kasumbalesa and Sakania). Full refund if the check can't be done. Free account, and your ID checked first (free, a few minutes on your phone).
How it works
One order, no middlemen
1
Order and pay through Copper Supply
Tell us the company or the site, and who to contact to arrange it. You pay Copper Supply, never anyone on the ground.
2
Our partner arranges it
Our field partner in Lubumbashi contacts the seller as "the Copper Supply field partner". Your name and your deal are never shared.
3
They go and look
Registers and the mining cadastre for a company; for a site, the material itself, its markings, the trucks, and who really controls it.
4
You get the report here
Dated, located photos, video and a written report in your account, usually within 3 to 5 working days.
The seller won't agree a visit, or keeps moving the date
Someone asks for money for access, for the visit or for an inspector
The material on site belongs to someone else, or the warehouse doesn't know the seller
The quantity, bag markings or truck numbers don't match the documents you were sent
A field check is an independent visual and local check by our field partner, reported as seen on the day. It isn't an inspection: there's no sampling, assay, weighing or certificate, and it doesn't prove ownership, grade or that a trade is safe. For any lot you pay for, appoint an inspection company too.
Questions
Questions people ask
What is a DRC field check?
A local check in the DRC copper belt, done for you by Copper Supply's field partner in Lubumbashi: either a company check (trade register, mining cadastre, registered address, US$149) or a site visit to one warehouse, yard, plant or mine site (GPS-stamped photos, video and a written report, US$450).
Where do you cover?
Haut-Katanga and Lualaba: Lubumbashi, Likasi, Kambove, Kolwezi, Kipushi, Kasumbalesa and Sakania. Elsewhere in the DRC, email sales@copper.supply first.
Who can order one?
Any Copper Supply member whose ID has been checked. The ID check is free and takes a few minutes on a phone. It means nobody can send our partner to a site anonymously.
How do I know the photos were taken there and then?
Photos are taken on Copper Supply and stamped at the moment they're taken with the job number, the time and the phone's GPS position. You also see the partner's GPS check-in when they arrive, with a map link.
Is it an inspection?
No. It reports what was seen on the day. There's no sampling, assay, weighing or certificate, and it doesn't prove ownership or grade. For any lot you pay for, appoint an inspection company too.
What if the seller refuses the visit?
You're refunded in full, and the refusal is recorded in your report. A seller who won't let anyone see the goods is one of the clearest warning signs there is.
Can I contact the field partner directly?
You message them inside the job on Copper Supply. Contact details aren't shared either way, which keeps the partner independent of sellers and your deal private.
